Consumers 'increasingly confident in workplace pensions'

UK consumers were more confident in workplace pensions last month than they had been in February, new figures suggest.

Produced by market research firm TNS on behalf of the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF), the statistics indicate that the index of such confidence rose from three per cent earlier this year to 22 per cent in September.

According to the association, a fall in the confidence of property as an alternative way to fund post-work years will have played a part in the trend.

NAPF chief executive Joanne Segars said: "The welcome boost in pensions confidence shows the traditional view of 'at least I've got my pension' has started to make a comeback."

However, she added that there remains a "hard-core" group of workers who still lack confidence in workplace confidence.

Claiming to have more than 400 business members, the NAPF aims to be a leading voice in the workplace pension industry.
