Four in ten retirees 'very happy'
Around four in ten retirees from the UK consider themselves to be "very happy", according to recent research.
Figures from insurance firm Axa have shown that Britons that have stopped working are more likely than their employed counterparts to be content with their lot.
Additionally, while people who are still working consider 72 to mark the beginning of old-age, those who are already retired tend to think that they are not past-it until they reach at least the age of 78.
Steven Folkard, head of pensions and savings policy at AXA, commented: "Although the majority of retirees say that their retirement income is sufficient people should be aware that having 18 years of a happy retirement could be costly, so it's important that people plan ahead in order to make the most of their 'bonus time '."
Earlier this week, a report from Scottish Widows showed that a third of people saving for retirement in the UK would consider moving abroad after they reach the end of their working lives.
