NAPF group aims to 'increase pension awareness'

A service established recently by the National Association Pension Funds (NAPF) has highlighted some of the early success it is having in raising awareness of the importance of saving for retirement.

Dubbed Pensionforce, the service was launched in September of last year and has already helped more than 1,000 people in the UK understand and organise their pension provision.

The service is supplied free to employers and is aimed at answering the call from the government to fill the so-called "information gap" when it comes to consumer understanding of the issues surrounding saving for retirement.

"Consumers simply don't understand pensions and don't know where to turn for help and information," said Joanne Segars.

"We believe that good quality and cost effective support can be provided through the workplace, free at the point of delivery," she added.

The NAPF was established in 1923 and its members include businesses and local authority organisations that operate pension saving schemes across the UK.
