NS&I looks to help Brits 'understand their savings'

The National Savings and Investments (NS&I) organisation has launched a new website aimed at helping UK consumers understand some of the issues relating to their saving efforts.

According to the company, millions of Britons are unsure of how many mainstream financial products function and how their savings can be impacted by issues such as inflation.

With this in mind, the NS&I's You and Your Money portal is aimed at providing advice and information on financial matter from "independent, impartial experts".

The endeavour has also been partly motivated by the company's own research that suggested as many as 40 per cent of adults around the country currently have no long-term financial plan at all.

"While it is natural that people discuss finances with family and friends, it is important that they have a reliable, independent resource that they can turn to for expert impartial information," said NS&I's director John Prout.

Meanwhile, the Saga Group insisted recently that expert advice can be a vital ingredient in the success or otherwise of a British consumer's efforts in saving for retirement.
