Britain's pensioners have been warned that they could be wasting valuable fund by failing to insulate their homes effectively.
Millions of people spend decades saving for retirement but according to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) they could be throwing away as much as £1 in every £3 because of poor insulation.
With this in mind, the department has urged elderly Britons to find out if they can apply for a grant that will make sure that the heat they pay for is kept within their homes as effectively as possible.
Environment minister Phil Woolas said: "We're seeing energy prices on the increase so it's more important than ever that homes are energy-efficient and everyone receives the financial help they're entitled to."
The DWP recently suggested that many of the UK's younger consumers have unrealistic expectations about the kind of financial security they are on course to achieve by the time they retire.
