Pensions chief comments on new survey

Human resources (HR) workers have an increasingly important role to play in good pensions provision, according to National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) chief executive Joanne Segars.

Commenting after the publication of the NAPF annual survey, Ms Segars suggested this is a result of the "gradual shift from salary related to money purchase pensions", as well as a competitive labour market.

Apparently, as the pensions landscape changes, employers are regularly turning to HR directors for guidance on related issues.

Indeed, the new survey shows that HR directors sit as trustees on 25 per cent of occupational pension schemes.

In other pensions news this week, Democratic Unionist Party MP Gregory Campbell has said that a number of women - in particular those over 60 who have taken career breaks at some stage in the last 30 years - may be entitled to claim extra pension payments, Belfast Newsletter reports.
