Prospective pensioners across the UK are more concerned than ever about the financial pressures they will face in later life, it has been claimed.
According to the financial services firm LV=, around 6.5 million Britons aged over 50 are worried about money, with many fearful that a recession will result in them being worse off in retirement.
Despite these findings, the company reports that just under half of the UK's over-50s have increased their efforts in saving for retirement in recent months but almost a quarter are still making no provisions at all.
"Our advice to anyone approaching retirement is to seek professional financial advice to ensure you make the most of your finances when you retire," said Mike Rogers, LV='s group chief executive.
Meanwhile, American Express reported recently that millions of people across the country are failing to find time for pension and retirement saving research.
