Retirement warning for 'oblivious' Brits
British people not saving for retirement may like to consider changing their position when they learn of the latest emerging trend.
According to Zurich, 64 per cent of retirees in the UK are currently mulling over a return to the workplace.
Worryingly for anybody not saving for retirement, 31 per cent of those older people hankering for work feel this way for financial reasons.
Forward planning from a younger age could be one way in which people minimise the risk of retiring with little income, but 94 per cent of 25 to 34-year-olds surveyed by the insurer admit they do not take financial advice.
"While it is encouraging to see that people intend to lead such an active retirement, there is real need to alert people to the importance of planning for their retirement from an early age," commented Tony Solomon, business development director at Zurich UK Life.
The government recently announced plans for a generic financial advice service to be set up nationally - a move welcomed by Citizens Advice.
