In a bid to help consumers manage their finances and plan for their retirement, AXA has launched a set of online financial planning tools.
According to the firm, people could shave tens of thousands of pounds off their lifetimes' expenditures by conducting regular reviews of their outgoings.
Entitled My Budget Day, the campaign is designed to encourage consumers, including those saving for their retirement, to spend an hour a month planning and reviewing their finances.
"My Budget Day is particularly relevant this year as Britain comes to terms with the current economic turbulence and consumers are faced with the implications of the credit crunch," stated Steve Folkard, head of savings and pension policy at AXA.
In other news, charity Age Concern recently warned that some UK pensioners may be adversely affected by the recent drop in the base rate of interest as a result of a fall in the interest accrued by their savings.
