Women aged over 50, potentially including those saving for retirement, seek men who are financially secure, it has been found.
A survey conducted by Alliance & Leicester found that women in this age group look for men with sound finances, as well as those who are emotionally strong and reliable.
In contrast, men aged 50 and above were identified as prioritising women who can cook, those who were younger than them and those who were good lovers.
Commenting on the findings, Emma Walkley, senior current account manager at Alliance & Leicester, said: "When it comes to finding a partner, it's interesting to see just how different men and women's wish-lists become, especially when they hit their twilight years."
Meanwhile, it may be the case that fewer men are financially secure at the moment, with PricewaterhouseCoopers recently suggesting that consumers are becoming less inclined to save for their retirement.
John Whiting, tax partner at the firm, said that when money is in short supply, people require "continual pressure" in order to save money for their post-work years.
