Workplace pension rated 'most important benefit'
A workplace pension has been rated as the most important workplace benefit by the majority of people responding to a recent survey, it has emerged.
The National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) reports that almost three-quarters of all the people it polled consider a good pension scheme to be their primary concern when it comes to company benefits.
However, despite the apparent value placed on workplace pensions, almost half of those questioned said they would have more confidence about investing in a different vehicle that enabled them to save for retirement.
The NAPF's chief executive Joanne Segars said: "The gap between the importance people attach to a workplace pension is at odds with their confidence, so it is clearly imperative that both the government and the industry work harder to restore a positive image."
Last week, Legal & General urged UK consumers to start saving for retirement in light of the economic issues affecting the wider economy.
